Dentdale is unusual amongst the rest of the Yorkshire Dales as it actually resides in the county of Cumbria. The Dale takes its name from the Village of Dent, though the dale is actually the valley of the River Dee. The scenic Settle- Carlisle railway runs across the top of Dentdale at Dent Head.
